The Bike Whisperer

I’d finally like to take the time and post a quick response to a fitting I had with Scherrit Knoesen, aka ‘The Bike Whisperer’ in July earlier this year.

I have a habit of rambling and so will attempt to keep this brief. I travelled from Glasgow down to London to see Scherrit having previously been a long time fan of the forum here and having worked through a lot of Steve;s posts. I knew that as far as fittings went in the UK, it would have to be Scherrit I would visit for a bike fit in order to tweak how far I’d previously came on my own.

It’s actually quite hard for me to be brief but What I would say is that Scherrit is a down to earth kind of guy, easy to get on with and extremely enthusiastic about what he is doing. These are fantastic traits to find in someone you’re putting your trust and hard earned cash in and I felt settled from the moment I arrived to the moment I left.

He certainly has a good eye as well and instantly picked out what was good and what could be better with my position. He explained what he was thinking, what he was going to change or try and why he was doing it throughout the entire fit. Another big +!

I religiously stuck with my habituation period post fit and am now reaping the benefits of a more efficient comfortable position on the bike.

The Conclusion…
I came a long way thanks to this site, both in terms of working on my position but also on correcting how screwed up (functionally) i actually was off the bike too.
It’s taken time but it has been well worth it. I find it interesting when I read about how Scherrit helped Steve determine wedge numbers and how Steve tweaked Jerry’s position when he trained with Steve in Sydney. I think it just goes to show, despite all the technology in the world, there’s no substitute for having an experienced set of eyes on you and that if you’re like me and notice every 2mm of difference to any aspect of your fit, it can be the difference of having someone else make the small changes, that make the big difference at the end of the day.

I would definitely recommend a fitting with Scherrit. Keep up the good work!
