Jumm became involved in the bicycle industry in 2007 after graduating from the faculty of Tourism Management and started his first job as a tour guide. He specified to be a cycling guide because of his obsession with the freedom of the bicycle which he rode everywhere in the crowded city of Bangkok, Thailand.
While passionate about cycling, after a couple seasons of work, he decided to make his whole life about cycling but realized that the seasonal nature of tourism meant that he had a hard time living through the off season every year. So, he tried to find a part-time job that still involved cycling, so he started a new business as a mobile bicycle service in Bangkok and surrounding areas.
The business went well because of its freshness and also solved the pain point of people dealing with bicycle parts from online shopping. Often clients need someone to help them change or install it. Due to the high demand for his services, transportation became a problem, so Jumm decided to open a shop. He lost the advantage of mobility to reach to clients, so he had to find substitution service to attract clients to the shop so he searched for something that would differentiate his business and become the core competency of the shop.
At that time, Jumm had a new carbon fibre road bike which replaced his aluminium one, but he was wondering why the previous one is more comfortable than the brand new one? Then he tried to find the answer and finally got to know about “bike fitting” which was unknown in Thailand. He purchased a textbook and tools from a bike fitting website and spent a lot of time studying it seriously. After trial and error testing on himself, friends and beloved clients many, many times to get experience and confidence, Jumm became the first bike fitter in Thailand at Jumm’s Bike Studio in 2010.
From that day, Jumm has done lots of things in bicycle industry such as a bicycle distributor, a parts importer, a bicycle TV show host, a frame builder, a carbon parts producer, etc. However, bike fitting is still his most dedicated work. He travelled around the world to Retul, SICI, Cyclologic, ISCO, and a lot more, trying to be the best bike fitter he could be! Then finally he realised that everywhere he went was just to study the tools, not to be a real bike fitter. In 2019, he threw away all his equipment and went back to basics performing all bike fittings with just knowledge and without cameras or software of any kind.

The story starts… In Hong Kong, where I had travelled to learn more about bike fitting with Retul in 2013. This is the first bike fitting class I’d taken after collecting three years of experience with BikeFit.com methods for which I had the text book and all equipment and learning online. After the Retul class, I’m so arrogant and so proud of my knowledge and my expensive motion capture tools.
In the United States, I visited one nice bicycle shop in Arizona while I’m training in another bike fitting class and have some conversations with the owner. I was talking myself up as a bike fitter when the owner said that he doesn’t give a shit about computer fitting because he spent a lot of money travelling Down Under to study fitting with the world’s number one bike fitter, Steve Hogg.
This left me wondering and I realized that I’ve been living in a bubble, who is Steve Hogg?
I went back searching and read a lot of articles to get to know more about Steve before finally asking to train with him. Of course, Steve said “No!” and let me know about conditions of taking the course with him which is so complicated to me. I kept trying and stayed in touch with Steve always asking about training periodically, waiting for good news.
In Thailand, I first met Steve in 2019 at the IBFI Asia Bike Fitting Conference, he accepted my request to train with him. I’m so glad that my wish came true. but unfortunately, the COVID pandemic started that year forcing us to postpone until this year, 2024. It took 10 years to fulfill my dream, so you can imagine how craving I am to train with Steve
In Canberra, first session of training, I am so excited. I was trying to understand what Steve had said and done, full of anxiety, worried about everything technically which I have never seen in my life and also worried about his examination. For your information, this is the only place in the world of bike fitting that you have to pass from the start to be training, in between, and finally at the final exam to be approved.
Steve always calm me down and repeat what I missed again and again patiently, and Margaret is also always supported me after long day. In the second week of training, I was more relaxed. I realised that I came here to learn, so I have to take the knowledge and enjoy the moment, no matter whether I could pass or not.
After a month of hard working, I finally got the Steve Hogg Approved badge! Spending time with Steve not just about training on a bike fitting but changed my way of living, my way of thinking, the way I discover and expand all my work and creativity.
Training with Steve is the most wonderful experience in my life, it was worth every second of 10 years waiting.
Note from Steve: Arnusan (Jumm) has been too modest. Amongst his other accomplishments, he has been a Buddhist monk, and he manufactures ridiculously strong carbon fibre chainrings that weigh 40 grams for a 49 tooth ring. What convinced me to accept him for training was an episode that I will relate now. At the IBFI Asia conference, most of the delegates were in awe of him simply because he was the only one not using Retul but achieved outstanding results nonetheless.
It took only a five-minute conversation to realise that Jumm is the real deal! Jumm is Thai slang for speedy and is an apt nickname for this furiously energetic person!
