COMFORT + EFFICIENCY = PERFORMANCE

The shoe on the right of the pic fits one half of the smallest pair of feet I’ve ever had to fit. It is a size 32. The size 44 Sidi and the 300mm steel rule are there to give you an idea of scale.

The owner of these shoes is 54 years old, 1.49m / 4’11” in height and weighs 40kg / 88lbs. She is not the smallest adult I’ve fitted; not even close, but certainly has the smallest feet. When this lady decided to take up cycling, a custom frame was a foregone conclusion. 650c wheels and 155mm cranks are not hard to source, but where do you find shoes that fit feet that are an adult size 2 1/2.?
To put it another way the feet that fit these shoes are 200mm long. Or is that short?
Fitting smaller riders can be a challenge in terms of sourcing proportional parts. For quality cranks shorter than 165mm, look at Specialites T.A or contact Tom Slocum of High Sierra Cycle Centre and have a pair made in almost any length starting from 130mm. www.hscycle.com

Finding shoes this small was a bit of an adventure. After what seemed like a thousand emails and phone calls we found that annually, Vittoria make a run of shoes down to size 32 . We ordered 32’s and 33’s just to be safe and the 32’s did the job.

2 BFS wedges on the right and 3 BFS wedges on the left; a severely cut down and modifed pair of size 36 arch support insoles and a happy tyro cyclist is the result.

Speaking of arch supports; that had better be the subject of a post soon. Stay tuned!

  1. Interesting to see how different we all are as cyclists and the range of people you have to fit. I have the opposite problem needing size 50 shoes that are available (sometimes) though not in that many options.

  2. G'day Jason, not really. It only seems that way.
G'day Tony, you're feet are right up there in size. I've seen a few 50's but the largest feet belonged to an international rugby player at Sidi size 52. But he was 203cm / 6'8" and 130kg / 286 lbs !!!!
