READING LIST

Here is a list and brief description of the 16 major books that have furthered my understanding of bike fitting. To be more accurate, they have furthered my understanding of human function. In the main, bike fitting is about bodies; not bikes.

RANT NO. 1: Carbon frames / replaceable rear derailleur hangers / aluminium-spoked wheels

Why many carbon frames are fragile. Why many modern bikes; particularly carbon framed bikes, descend less securely than bikes of years past. How to tell if what looks like a crack on your carbon frame really is a crack, rather than a scratch in the paint. Why replaceable rear derailleur hangers are generally not a great idea on road bikes. Why aluminium-spoked wheels shouldn’t be ridden in the rain.
