Bike fit with Jerry Gerlich

I’ll start by saying this was much more than a bike fit. It was an experience, a great bike fitting experience. Jerry is an extremely nice guy and really knows what he’s doing.

I’ve been riding seriously for a few years now and the faster I got, the more uncomfortable I was. I’m a strong racer but always felt like my body was against itself. My feet never felt stable, hips never square and steady, and my legs sometimes felt like they weren’t even part of the same body.

I found Steve Hogg’s site about a year ago and began putting into practice some of his techniques. While it lestened the pain I still never felt right. I finally decided to get some help and went to see Jerry Gerlich in Austin about 3.5 weeks ago. It was quite the drive but definetly worth it. I was a mess, and it took Jerry almost eight hours of testing, adjusting, and testing some more to get me straightened out.

Although long, the process was very enjoyable. I left with better posture and a whole new outlook of what I should be doing on and off the bike. The first two weeks post fit were a process of strange feelings and trying to find the center of the seat. A few days ago everything just clicked. After focusing on the techniques Jerry taught me everything fell right into place. I’m finally sitting square, and my legs feel smooth and powerful. All my previous S.I. joint pain is virtually gone. I’ve never felt so good riding.

If anyone in the states is having any problems on the bike I highly recommend scheduling a fit with Jerry. It was worth all the time traveling and every penny. I can’t thank him enough. Thanks Steve for all the great info on the site and Jerry for a great fitting experience.

Sincerely,

Jason Davis

  1. Thanks for the props Jason. Your patience with the changes/adaptation period combined with following through on the off the bike activities is paying dividends. Looking forward to more feedback down the road.
