Mark Dwyre makes a difference

If you are in the market for a bike fit, I highly recommend you read the blog posts at www.stevehoggbikefitting.com, and then give Mark Dwyre at T.I. Cycle a call. Mark’s applied understanding of the domains of mobility, proprioception, and power to the pedals was extensive, and the resulting changes to the position on my bikes have allowed me to begin working out some lifelong alignment issues.

I have been racing for over 30 years and could pretty much throw a race bike together and know what my position should be pretty much with my eyes closed. In fact I had not had a bike fit since I picked up my 63 cm Bertrand in 1986. I ultimately believe that proper training is the most important thing that a racing cyclist can do, however an improper bike fit could easily reduce the long term success of that cyclist – remember the days of toe clips, cleats and straps where knee problems were common place? Mark introduced me to how proprioceptive feedback could be used during the bike fit process and clearly demonstrated its application to applying power to the pedals and alignment of the body both on and off the bike. Being experienced in various bike fit methodologies also helped ensure that any questions with respect to the methods Mark uses were adequately dealt with during the bike fitting process.

Selecting a professional bike fitter is usually limited to the local resources available however, I highly recommend making the extra effort to search out an uncommon fitter like Mark at T.I. Cycle who has taken to trouble to travel to the other side of the world to improve his bike fitting skills. Then work  it into your schedule so you can take the next step in your cycling success.
