I had entered Bike Fitting Hell. I decided to travel to Austin, Texas from Honduras and ask Jerry Gerlich for help.
He quickly identified my problems and worked on solving each one over the course of four hours. I always knew that nobody was perfectly symmetric, but I never knew how asymmetrical I was.
Jerry is very methodical in his approach. It’s impressive how a couple of millimeters in any direction, a few small shims and wedges, G8 insoles, tweaks and changes can affect comfort and performance.
His knowledge and understanding of how a bike should fit and how the body functions are incredible. It was worth every single penny.
I got back home and it wasn’t over. I worked on some recommendations and a personalized fitness program. The results were as impressive as the changes he made on my bike and components. They have helped on and off the bike. I am enjoying my rides, pedaling with less effort and more power.
Our bodies change and so should our bikes. It’s a matter of knowing what to change and when to do it, if necessary. I’m still learning from my friend Jerry and hope to visit him again soon in Austin or wherever the world of bike fitting takes him.
Glad your time in Austin was beneficial Gabriel. Thanks for making the trip.
By being patient with the fitting process and adaptation period, you have managed to change how your function. True change is neither easy nor quick. Your eyes are opened a little wider regarding position, stability and performance. Best of luck in 2014 with your Seven Cycles ti machine.
