These Ronan Descy designed MTB shims are used to compensate for measurable or functional differences in leg length. They suit those looking for a shim stack in the 3 – 6 mm range that can be walked on while still allowing a stable connection between foot and pedal.
Fitting instructions
Shim height options:
- the base unit is a 3 mm shim
- the base unit plus the 1 mm and / or 2 mm additional shim provides a total shim height of 4, 5 or 6 mm
Positioning:
- the directional arrow faces the shoe toe box
- the long posts on the centre piece can be positioned in either the front or rear matching holes found in the base unit, depending on cleat positioning preference
- the posts should be inserted through the main body and into the unused set of bolt holes in the shoe (2x holes for cleat bolts / 2x holes for posts)
- the two rectangular teeth should be inserted into the two slots in the base of the shoe
Tips:
- use the 16mm screws for 3 or 4 mm stack / use the 18mm screws for 5 or 6 mm stack
- tighten screws VERY TIGHT to prevent cleat or shim twisting when exiting the pedal
